Our model was created layer by layer, starting with the basic outline sketch of the female body. Skin tone was added, then reflected light and shadow effects.
Various hair styles were created that fit the theme of this project. The hair is also created in layers as highlights and headbands are added.
Her clothes, particularly her tops, were designed to recreate some of the styles worn by the hippie generation. These include crop tops, halter tops, tank tops, and even a Led Zeppelin T-shirt.
There are 19 layers just to create the stone necklace. Starting with the sketch outline and then filling it in with various colors.
The image shown here was used as the inspiration for our model’s colorful necklace.
The colors were changed to protect the innocent.

We found the color codes for the various skin tones, ranging from white to black, with a simple Google search.
To create our model’s clothing, first we draw the outline. Then we add the main coloring and then the light and shadow effects on top of that.
A simple frock as seen in the image here only required 4 layers but provided excellent detail.
The eyes have it… layers, that is. We start with the basic outline of one eye and eyebrow, then create the circle for the iris. Color is blended in “rings” of gradually changing intensity to give it depth.
The white of the eye and the corners are blended in along with the lower eye lid. Eye shadow is added and the eye lashes are thickened.
Then we duplicate the layers and mirror them so that the eyes are perfectly symmetrical.
